DANCE WORKSHOP OF HANOVER was established in 1974 by MARYLOU CUNNINGHAM, RAD, RTS. Ms. Cunningham, a former professional dancer, is director and an instructor of her school. Her love of dance began with Helen O'Brien and continued with such known artists as famed Ziegfield ballerina Harriet Hoctor, Stanley Brown, Renzo Reiss of the Bremen Opera Ballet, Sydney Leonard and E. Virginia Williams, founder and late director of The Boston Ballet.
Ms. Cunningham has continued her studies with the American Academy of Ballet and the Royal Academy of Dance where she maintains a RAD Teaching Certificate and is a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, London, England. Ms. Cunningham and Dance Workshop of Hanover is one of only two schools in Massachusetts to have this distinction.
Many of her students have gone on to study and/or perform with the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, American Academy of Ballet, Royal Academy of Dance, PA Youth Ballet, and Interlochen Arts Academy summer intensive programs, the Alvin Ailey School, School of American Ballet, School of the Arts, Ballet Theatre of Boston, Tulsa Ballet, LaScala Ballet International, Seacoast Ballet, the Limón Dance Company, Bucks County Theatres, on Broadway, National and International Touring Companies, Modern Dance Companies, and working as independent guest teachers, master teachers, and choreographers.
